Nein, keine! 
Inzwischen habe ich auf dem Server ein paar weitere Installationsversuch
durchgefuehrt:

Postfix 2.1.4 ohne TLS
Postfix 2.1.3 mit und ohne TLS
Cyrus-SASL 2.1.18

Immer der gleiche Effekt. Sobald ich SMTP-Auth aktiviere - Error!
So langsam gehen mir die Ideen aus. Zumal wie gesagt der Cyrus-IMAP ueber
den SASL auxprop ohne Probleme funktioniert.
Habe in der smtpd.conf mal von sql auf sasldb umgestellt. - keine Aenderung!
Kann es mit dem Solaris zusammenhaengen? Leider kann ich nicht auf den
saslauthd umstellen, da unter Solaris die Loesung mit PAM nicht
funktioniert.

Werde das ganze jetzt noch mal unter Debian durchspielen! 
Bin fuer weitere Tips und Anregungen offen.
