Du bist im falschen Film. Man beachte das "d" am Ende von smtp.

Sowas darfst Du nicht machen! Du suchst Dir aus dem sample.cf die
für Dich richtigen Parameter heraus in intergrierst sie in die
main.cf.
Bei mir steht da z.B:

# For outbound
smtp_sasl_auth_enable = yes
smtp_sasl_security_options = noanonymous
# For sending out to a relayhost that requires authentication
smtp_sasl_password_maps = btree:/etc/postfix/sasl_passwd

Und in der sasl_passwd steht dann z.B.:
pD958684B.dip0.t-ipconnect.d           username:password

Wobei ich mich mit T-Online-Dingen nicht auskenne.

postmap sasl_passwd nicht veergessen.
